Les longues vues
Dorval, Québec
2022
The Long Views project draws its strength from its site, a narrow strip of land open at one end to the panorama of Lac St-Louis.
The qualities of the view, the existing canopy and the narrowness of the lot are what led to the morphology of the house.
In order to offer a view of the lake to all the spaces that make it up, the project is fragmented into two transparent buildings, set in a row. The house is thus, in the truest sense of the word, a long view.
An architecture of context but not mimetic, the architectural composition alternates between mineral garden, brick mass, planted garden, glass volume and natural garden open to the panorama, offering a dynamic journey between architecture and nature, blurring the boundaries between inside and outside, between buildings, gardens and the vast expanse of the lake.
